BUILDING CONFIDENCE-

Assembly

In accordance with our ‘No Child left behind’ policy, the special assembly presentations are a joy to behold with every child in a class participating.  The teacher’s creativity comes to the fore when she plans for themes like Water, The Army, Music,  Books and many more. Students speak, dance. act, mime for a presentation.  Planning and practice begins more than a month ahead of the D-day.  Parents are invited to witness the presentations and invariably, one sees proud, ecstatic parents going back!

QCT

Quality Circle Time is a compulsory part of the curriculum for Grades I-V.  It is the right blend of structure, enjoyment and learning.  It has helped in improving listening, creating behavioural rules for children, communication and social skills, problem solving and other social and emotional competencies.  The basic idea is to implement a positive behaviour approach and activities are designed to enhance self-esteem in children leading to a positive school ethos.

Special activities

Life will be boring if there is no fun and the fun can be constructive, teaching learners skills that are needed for life long. Every Thursday we have activities specially designed to meet the needs of 21st century learners. These activities are well designed to cater a plethora of skills like team building, problem solving, alternate thinking and so on.

Setting goals

-Debate on Gender Bias

-Cooking without Fire

-Reflective dialogue on leadership skills using clippings

-How to be safe

Life Skills……..

Life skills have been defined as “the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life (WHO)
Life skills enable us to translate knowledge, attitudes and values into actual abilities. Life skills include psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills that help people make informed decisions, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with managing a stressful situation.

In Our School Suchitra Academy, we have given a lot planning in conducting each activity to suit the above skills. Students are given an opportunity to discuss, debate and think intricately. We also make the students generate positive and negative examples of each skills. We encourage them to apply each skill via verbal reasoning and finding answers and what the skill is about and how to translate it during real life problem solving situations. The Methodology chosen for Life skill classes are by conducting Class discussions, brainstorming sessions, Role plays, group activities, and storytelling sessions.
