THE HAPPY PRINCE-MY LEARNING
The Happy Prince made me ponder about the ways of this world
One day you are at the helm of things
And another day , you are just dirt
One day the crowds bow down and salute you
The next day , you are a commodity so they just loot you
The tears of suffering that the Prince shed for his countrymen
Were appreciated by the swallow but not by the powerful men
Who tore down the statue because it was so bare
Devoid of gems and jewels , an eye sore – they didn’t care .
The friendship between the prince and the swallow was unreal
It did not belong to this materialistic world and was ethereal
True friends they were because they spent their final days together
Working as a team and thinking about the others
The Happy Prince made me misty eyed
It showed me the stark reality of life- cold , bare and forthright .
