Grade III students presented their fifth inquiry in PBL “How can we help our community build empathy for others?”.
Grade III students are of late engaged with the fifth inquiry in PBL, “How can we help our community build empathy for others?”. One of the topics covered under this inquiry was sensitivity towards the elderly. We commenced the topic in the class by asking some probing questions like, “What do the students understand by sensitivity towards elderly and In what ways can they show their sensitivity?” Their ecstatic response was overwhelming as each student had a personal anecdote to share. To make it more engrossing, we invited one of the grandparents of the students to the class as a guest. To quench everyone’s curiosity, a few questions were posed to the grandparent- “How were schools during their time? How were the childhood days back then and now? What would they expect from their grandchildren? …etc.” The experience shared was indeed impactful and left many students to contemplate the value of their grandparents in their lives.
