Our Journey so far during Covid 19 lockdown
What a tumultuous two months it has been! The story began on March 16, 2020 – We decided to close school from the next day. But as we have been saying endlessly-school might have closed, but education did not stop. Teachers who were already savvy with the use of the computer upped their stance and stepped into unchartered territory learning the use of new applications overnight, so to speak. We went into a flurry of planning, executing lessons online, looked at ways to keep children engaged online, made schedules for younger children to follow at home, designed challenges that would exercise their minds, their bodies and their spirits. We tried to pull in our partners, you- dear parents through physical challenges, through poetry writing and of course through the time that you spent guiding your children to do their assignments. We did not let Covid- 19 break us- we continued with orientations for new parents, parent teacher interactions on Whatsapp and virtually, began online classes for children from PP to Grade V so that they would build a connect with their teachers- we believe the end is not in sight yet and preparing for that eventuality is better than being caught with blinkers on. But, we do hope this will end soon and life will come back to normal. Our children will remember this year the year that a microorganism wreaked havoc, the year when we told them to wash hands again and again, the year we told them to stay put inside, the year they played, watched cartoons for more time than they usually did, but craved for school just like we adults are doing. Here’s wishing- an end to the pandemic, a beginning of a new world where we will be careful about our resources, where we will remember that less is more and that we share this earth with other living beings hopefully, the lesson learnt will make us leave a better world for our children!
